Joshua: I’ll Fight Wilder When He’s Man Enough Not To Lie

WBA, IBF, IBO, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is still very much interested in facing Deontay Wilder in the ring – but cautions that Wilder must start being truthful in order to make their fight happen.

Joshua is still annoyed that Wilder and his handlers were calling him a “ducker” and they also said the British superstar was doing everything in his power to avoid a potential unification between the two.

But Wilder recently revealed that he was offered “more money to fight Joshua” than what he was ultimately guaranteed for the February rematch with Tyson Fury.

In that rematch, Fury stopped Wilder in seven rounds to capture the WBC title.

At the moment, Wilder has brought forth a legal action to enforce a rematch clause with Fury, who believes the rematch clause has expired.

“He [Wilder] is another challenger. Offer still stands when he’s ready and he’s man enough to not lie, be real. It wasn’t nice when they were trying to tarnish my name. It’ll be good to get [him to] stop [the] PR stunts and get a fight underway,” Joshua told the Off The Cuff show on DAZN.

Joshua, 31-years-old, is back in the ring on Saturday night, when he faces the IBF’s mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev at the SSE Arena in Wembley.

Should Joshua win, and Fury overcomes is legal battle with Wilder, the two of them could potentially collide in a very high profile unification in 2021. The two champions have already reached a verbal agreement with respect to the financial split.

If Wilder wins the legal rift, then Fury would face him in a trilogy fight and Joshua would likely move forward with a mandatory defense against the WBO’s top man, Oleksandr Usyk.
