Tyson Fury: Easiest Opponent For Me is Joshua, Tailor-Made For Me

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury views unified titleholder Anthony Joshua is the easiest opponent that he could face in the ring.

Fury and Joshua are being lined up to potentially face each other in 2021.

Earlier this year, they reached an agreement on the monetary terms for a two-fight deal.

“The easiest opponent I think would be Anthony Joshua just because he’s tailor-made for me,” Fury explained to Wow Hydrate.

“If ever I could build a perfect opponent I’d be building him.”

Joshua will defend his IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO world titles against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev on December 12 in the UK.

Fury was scheduled to come back on December 5, but then postponed his stay-busy return until next year.

At the moment, he’s dealing with a legal claim initiated by Deontay Wilder.

Fury stopped Wilder in seven rounds back in February, to capture the WBC world title.

Wilder exercised an immediate rematch clause – but Fury and his handlers believe that contractual option has expired.

Their planned trilogy fight was postponed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A mediation is now playing out, with Wilder attempting to enforce that rematch clause. He hopes to face Fury in the first quarter of 2021.

Provided Fury is able to overcome his legal situation, and Joshua wins his upcoming defense, the WBC would fully support a unification between the two.

“There’s absolutely great hope from the world to see that undisputed fight. Tyson Fury is our champion, our pride. Anthony Joshua holds the other belts and he has been a tremendous asset to the sport. A gentleman, a great career,”WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman told Sky Sports.

“To see this showdown, Fury-Joshua, would be tremendous for everyone in the sport of boxing. We will absolutely support it.”
