Freddie Roach Expects Pacquiao To Easily Destroy McGregor

Freddie Roach, trainer for WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, has warned that his boxer would demolish former two-weight UFC champion Conor McGregor – if the two of them actually reach an agreement to face each other.

Last week, McGregor claimed on social media that he was returning to the sport of boxing in a clash with Pacquiao, and he claims the contest is going to take place in the Middle East.

McGregor made his boxing debut back in August of 2017, when he was stopped in ten rounds by Floyd Mayweather at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

But Roach does not expect McGregor to last that long with Pacquiao.

“If this is true, Manny Pacquiao will have an easier time with Conor Mcgregor than when he fought Ricky Hatton,” Froach stated.

Pacquiao demolished Hatton in two vicious rounds back in 2009.

The eight division world champion has been out of the ring since July of 2019, when he won a twelve round decision over unbeaten Keith Thurman to capture the WBA belt.

McGregor fought in the UFC in January, but then a few months ago he announced his retirement from MMA – although many insiders expect him to fight again in mixed martial arts.

A Pacquiao team member informed that while there have been discussions for a fight with McGregor, the two sides are far from a deal.

Jayke Joson, special assistant to Pacquiao, who is also a Philippine senator, told media outlets that a fight with McGregor would generate proceeds that would benefit coronavirus victims in the Philippines.
